Do you need a large order of warehouse trolleys, or bespoke trolleys designed to your specific requirements? Call us on 029 2045 0128 to discuss your needs with our expert team.

Flatbed trolleys (otherwise known as flatbed carts) are a simple but incredibly effective tool in the transportation of goods around workplaces including warehouses, factories and more. These heavy duty trolleys can vary in design but predominantly have a flat surface (AKA the flatbed) on which to place or stack the goods, four wheels underneath and a handle for the user to push it.

Often the frame is made from steel and the flat bed from a strong type of wood such as ply. These trolleys can be made in big or small sizes to carry loads of all types. RentalSpec specialise in creating bespoke items and we can add extras such as swivel castors, shelving or mesh sides depending on your needs. We can make flatbed trolleys out of many types of material including aluminum and steel.

Whatever kind of flatbed trolley you’re looking for, our expert team can help your vision come to life. Equipped with expertise and the latest in CAD (computer-aided design) technology, we create only the highest quality manual handling solutions. As we are entirely based in the UK, we can offer exceptional prices and a quick turnaround as there is no waiting for overseas deliveries.

What are three common variants of Flatbed Trolleys?

Industrial flatbed trolleys come in all shapes and sizes and all can be used to transport goods effortlessly by hand. Find out which ones are suitable for your workplace - there are three main types found across the workplace.

Flatbed Trolley with Mesh Sides

Flatbed trolleys with sides are suitable for transporting a large amount of goods or bulky items where they may otherwise fall out. The mesh sides can also act as handles for the users, and the mesh allows users to see inside the trolley with ease.

Flatbed Trolley with No Sides

Similar in shape and size to the mesh side trolleys, these are perfect for those items that cannot fit neatly into a trolley with sides. Their ability to carry large or wide items makes this type of flatbed trolley suitable for use anywhere from DIY stores to office spaces.

Flatbed Trolley with Push Handle

This type of flatbed trolley has a flat base and a large, looped handle on one end. This allows the user to effortlessly push the trolley in front of them whilst maintaining control. Great for times when the goods need to be loaded and unloaded quickly such as cash and carry shops and DIY stores.

What are the different features of a Flatbed Trolley and what are their benefits for material handling?

Flatbed trolley carts are loved in workplaces across the world for their versatility. Whether you need them to be foldable, with or without sides or made from a certain material, RentalSpec can create exactly what you need.

Handle Shape/Style: Open Handle

Having an open handle allows for easy movement while using the trolley, and gives ease of manoeuvrability even when loaded with large and heavy goods. We can design these trolleys so that the handle can be removed to allow for a bulkier load to be lifted onto the flat bed. The handle can be removed and reattached swiftly, making these trolleys ideal for all sorts of goods.

Wooden End

Adding in a wooden panel to the handle end ensures that items do not slip through during transit, getting damaged or otherwise injuring the user. This makes these trolleys ideal for heavier or sharp edged objects. When creating these trolleys, we use only the best quality ply that is incredibly strong and will stand the test of time.

Trolley Shape: Double Ended Trolley

Having handles at both ends is beneficial in a number of ways. Firstly, it means these trolleys can be used effortlessly by one user or two. If it’s just the one, this user doesn’t have to turn the trolley round to change direction, but simply move to the other end. We often create these trolleys with open ended handles allowing the efficient transportation of longer or oddly shaped goods.

Trolley with sides

The sides of these trolleys can be used as handles. This enables you to carry longer items such as rugs, poles or planks of wood. They also work for stabilising items should you want to stack them on the trolley, without fear of them sliding off. We create these trolleys with two added vertical side bars to support whatever load you are needing to transport.

Shelved Trolley

Shelved trolleys enable you to neatly stack items while they’re being transported, and these trolleys can also be used as stationary storage while not being moved. Being able to easily separate items out makes these trolleys fantastic for retail warehouse environments or anywhere else where items need picking and packing.

Trolley Wheels

Trolley wheels can be made big and small, depending on the usage. We offer puncture proof wheels that can be used on all types of terrain, in addition to swivel castors to allow for easy maneuverability around tight spaces and narrow corners.

Example Product: Trestle Table Trolley

Warehouses aren’t the only places that benefit from flatbed trolleys. At RentalSpec we design and create trolleys for all sorts of uses. Our trestle table trolley is ideal for those who own or run large event spaces such as conference centres or schools. This trolley is specifically designed to safely hold and transport 25 6ft trestle tables, saving you time and space moving them around. It also works as a great storage space for tables when they are not in use. The big polyurethane wheels minimise any potential floor marking which is important on soft floors such as sprung wood dance floors or basketball courts. If that wasn’t enough, this trolley has been designed to fold down when not in use, saving you precious space.
